Still no proof of Bin Laden - 28th Sep 2001 FBI still has no proof! The FBI today issued a press release including 19 photographs of suspected individuals believed to be the hijackers of the 11th Sep terrorist acts in New York and Washington. The worrying aspect is that the FBI still cannot provide proof of links with Osama bin Laden, the wanted Saudi fugitive. Indeed, they can't even be sure that the 19 photos correspond to the actual hijackers, instead requesting the public's assistance in verification. It is also interesting to note that the FBI are still attempting to confirm the true identities of the suspects. All this leads up to a very shaky case for the involvement of Bin Laden - certainly, in our view, not enough evidence to declare war on him and his associates. Whilst we strongly condemn all acts of terrorism and believe that the perpetrators should be brought to justice for the evil they have inflicted on 1000's of innocent people, we also oppose the American Government's 'gung ho' attitude to vengeance and retribution - something that can only backfire in a big way if they don't have the evidence the rest of the world demands.
